When to Visit

The best time to visit Ts'ehlanyane National Park largely depends on the type of experience you're looking for. Generally, the dry months from October to March offer the most pleasant weather for hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities. The weather is typically sunny, and the park is lush and green due to the summer rains, making it perfect for photography and nature walks.

For those interested in birdwatching, the migratory season, from November to February, is ideal as it increases the variety of species you might observe.

However, visitors looking for a winter experience with snow-capped mountains will find the park especially captivating from June to August, although the colder temperatures may limit some outdoor activities due to snow or frost. Winter offers a quieter experience, and the park’s landscapes look even more striking with the misty, snow-covered peaks.
