5-Day Birth of the Wild & Wonderful Bigfive Safari Experience

Your safari begins at around 8:00 AM with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. Drive approximately three hours to Tarangire National Park, where you will enjoy a full-day game drive through spectacular landscapes of golden savannah, ancient baobabs, and seasonal wetlands. Keep your eyes open for the park’s famous elephant herds, as well as lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a variety of bird species.

Named after the Tarangire River, the park’s vital water source during the dry season, Tarangire is renowned for its impressive concentration of elephants, majestic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. With luck, you may also spot tree-climbing lions and pythons. After an exciting day in the wild, continue to Karatu for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart from Karatu and journey towards the legendary Serengeti National Park, with the drive taking approximately four hours. As you approach the park, the landscape gradually opens into the endless golden plains that have made the Serengeti world-famous.

After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive through Central Serengeti, exploring the rich wildlife areas in search of lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, wildebeest, zebras, and other fascinating species. As the sun begins to soften over the plains, continue to your lodge for a delicious dinner and a relaxing overnight stay in the heart of the Serengeti.

After breakfast, depart Central Serengeti and journey towards the remarkable Ndutu area, one of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife regions during the Great Migration. Enjoy game viewing along the way as the landscape transforms into open short-grass plains, woodland, and seasonal wetlands.

Ndutu becomes a breathtaking nursery during the calving season, when thousands of wildebeest gather to give birth, attracting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Spend the afternoon exploring this extraordinary ecosystem, witnessing newborn wildlife and the raw drama of nature unfold before continuing to your tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Rise early for a full day of unforgettable wildlife encounters in the Ndutu area, following the rhythm of the Great Migration from morning through the afternoon. Explore the shores of Lake Ndutu, the Hidden Valley, and surrounding marshlands, where thousands of wildebeest gather during the calving season. Witness newborn calves taking their first steps, while lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and other predators remain close by, creating dramatic scenes of survival in the wild.

As the day unfolds, continue exploring the open plains in search of the Big Five and other wildlife that make the Serengeti so extraordinary. End your adventure with a magical sundowner in the wilderness, surrounded by the sounds and beauty of the African bush before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Ndutu wilderness and drive approximately two hours towards the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera for an unforgettable game drive across its fertile crater floor, where an exceptional concentration of wildlife awaits. Keep watch for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and, with luck, the elusive black rhino.

Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch surrounded by the breathtaking crater landscape before ascending and continuing your journey to Arusha. Arrive in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your remarkable Tanzanian safari, or continue to your overnight accommodation if required.
