Your day begins with an early morning departure from Maun, heading east toward the vast and otherworldly Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. After a scenic drive, you’ll arrive at the pans mid-morning and begin exploring the endless, shimmering white landscape with your guide. Along the way, you'll visit a meerkat colony and enjoy the rare chance to observe these curious creatures up close in their natural habitat. Around midday, relax with a picnic lunch in the solitude of the pans or beneath a shady acacia tree. In the afternoon, continue your journey across the pans, learning about the unique geology, ancient lake systems, and the cultural heritage of the area. Time permitting, you may also visit a nearby village or historical site before beginning the return journey to Maun in the late afternoon. You’ll arrive back in the early evening, filled with unforgettable memories of one of Botswana’s most striking landscapes.
