You will arrive at your mobile safari camp, set in a scenic location near Xini Lagoon, where you’ll settle in. The area is known for its tranquil beauty and excellent wildlife viewing, including leopard sightings, herds of antelope, and the occasional wild dog. After a day of thrilling game drives, you’ll return to camp to enjoy dinner and the company of fellow adventurers around the campfire beneath the star-filled African sky.
Today, you’ll venture further north to Xakanaxa, a lush region within the Moremi Game Reserve. This area is renowned for its beautiful floodplains and waterways, attracting large herds of elephants and red lechwe, as well as an abundance of vibrant birdlife. The evening will be spent back at your mobile camp, where you can relax around the fire and reflect on your day’s adventures.
On the third day, you’ll travel to Bodumatau, a more remote and less-visited area of the Moremi Game Reserve. Known for its open plains, this area is a haven for predators, including lion prides and hyena clans. The landscape is wild and beautiful, offering excellent opportunities for spotting these apex predators. After exploring Bodumatau, you will continue to Third Bridge, a region famous for its mix of wet and dry habitats. This area offers thrilling water crossings and opportunities to see large animals like buffalo, giraffes, and even the elusive sitatunga in the swamps. Another unforgettable evening is spent at your camp, sharing stories under the African sky.
After breakfast, you’ll leave Moremi and travel to the Khwai Community Concession, a pristine wilderness area bordering the northeastern edge of Moremi. The concession is managed by the local community, ensuring an intimate and sustainable safari experience. You’ll settle into your mobile camp and enjoy a relaxed game drive in the area. The Khwai region is known for its dense populations of elephants, lions, and leopards. As night falls, you may have the chance to embark on a night drive to spot nocturnal animals.
Today, you’ll experience a unique adventure in the Khwai region. After a morning game drive, you’ll take part in a traditional mokoro canoe excursion along the Khwai River. In a mokoro, a traditional dug-out canoe, you’ll glide silently through the lily-covered waterways, observing the quiet beauty of the delta. Your expert polers, from the local community, will guide you as you look out for wildlife like frogs, birds, and perhaps a shy sitatunga hiding among the reeds. The rest of the day will be spent exploring Khwai’s riverine forests, open plains, and winding waterways, with more game drives in search of cheetahs, elephants, and other iconic species.
On your final day in Khwai, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with the local community. This is a great chance to learn about the traditional practices and conservation efforts undertaken by the local people to protect this wildlife-rich region. Afterward, you’ll head back out on a game drive, exploring the area’s diverse landscapes in search of more wildlife encounters. Expect to see a variety of animals, including lions, leopards, and elephants. As the sun sets, you’ll return to camp, reflecting on your deep connection with the land and its people.
Your journey continues as you head north to Savuti, a dramatic and arid region within Chobe National Park. Famous for its dramatic landscapes, the Savuti area is a haven for elephants and predators. Upon arrival, you’ll settle into your mobile camp, located amidst this wild and rugged landscape. This is a region where predator sightings are frequent, and you may spot lions, hyenas, and other carnivores roaming the plains. You’ll spend the afternoon on a game drive, exploring the diverse terrain and witnessing the raw beauty of this untamed land.
Today, you’ll spend a full day exploring Savuti, tracking lion prides, spotted hyenas, and observing the predator-prey dynamics that unfold in this wild region. Savuti is particularly famous for its intense predator activity, and if you’re lucky, you may witness some dramatic scenes as predators hunt. The area is also home to large herds of elephants that gather around the remaining waterholes during the dry season, often leading to dramatic interactions between the bulls. In addition to the wildlife, the Savuti Channel, which flows and dries unpredictably, adds an extra layer of mystery and intrigue to the landscape.
Your final day in Savuti will include a visit to the Gubatsa Hills, where you can view ancient San rock paintings that date back thousands of years. These paintings provide a fascinating insight into the area’s long history of human habitation. The remainder of the day will be spent exploring the Savuti Marsh, open plains, and rocky outcrops in search of more wildlife. As the sun sets, you’ll return to your camp for one last evening in this incredible wilderness.
