Ikorongo and Grumeti are two game reserves run under one administration in the Mara Region. Both were gazetted in 1994 and border Serengeti National Park, forming a large part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem that hosts the Great Migration.

Ikorongo takes its name from the roan antelope, called korongo in Swahili, which locals once saw in large numbers. Grumeti is named after the seasonal Grumeti River, whose pools keep wildlife supplied with water in the dry season.
