Kijereshi Game Reserve covers 82 km² in the Busega and Bariadi districts of Simiyu Region. It borders Serengeti National Park to the north and east and acts as a buffer for it, and it lies close to Lake Victoria.
It forms part of the Serengeti short-grass plains and is a dry-season refuge for wildlife. Migrating wildebeest with calves pass through the western areas between May and July, making it the Tanzanian end of the migration route.
