Day 2 Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater Main Destination: Ngorongoro Crater
On this day, we recommend an early start to catch an exciting morning game drive, when wildlife is most active, and to experience one of the most breathtaking sunrises you'll ever see.
Afterward, you'll return to camp for a well-deserved brunch before heading to Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the 8th Wonder of the Natural World. The crater spans 102 square miles and is surrounded by 2,000-foot-high walls, creating a unique ecosystem that houses almost every species native to East Africa. It's one of the few places on the continent where you can spot the elusive black rhino. The concentration of wildlife here is unparalleled, with a variety of habitats including rivers, swamps, a soda lake teeming with flamingos, forests, and vast plains. The crater is also home to some of the largest elephants in the world, known for their enormous tusks, a result of the rich volcanic soil and nutrient-dense grasses.
