3-Day Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking

Your driver-guide will pick you up in the morning. After a short safari briefing, you will

begin the scenic drive north toward the Uganda–Rwanda border. Enjoy breathtaking

landscapes of rolling hills, local villages, and terraced farms along the way.

Cross into Uganda through the Cyanika or Gatuna border and continue to the Rushaga sector

of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of the world’s most famous gorilla trekking

destinations. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and relax as you prepare for the next day’s

magical encounter with the mountain gorillas.

After an early breakfast, proceed to the Bwindi park headquarters for a detailed briefing

before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek may take between 2 and 6 hours

depending on the location of your assigned gorilla family.

Once you find the gorillas, spend a full hour observing them as they eat, play, groom, and

interact. This close encounter with these gentle giants is one of the world’s most profound

wildlife experiences.

After the trek, enjoy lunch and then transfer back to Rwanda. Cross the border and continue

to Volcanoes National Park, where you will settle in for the evening.

Enjoy breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on Golden Monkey

Trekking. These rare and lively primates are found only in the Virunga volcanic region. The

trek is generally easier than gorilla trekking and offers excellent photographic opportunities

as golden monkeys leap playfully through the bamboo forests.

After spending time with the golden monkeys, return to the lodge for lunch or proceed to

Musanze town. Later, drive back to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon or evening. Your guide

will drop you at your preferred location, marking the end of your 3-day Uganda–Rwanda

primate safari.
