3-Day Samburu Mid-Range Bird Watching Safari Experience

Early morning departure from Nairobi at 7:00am, traveling through the central highlands via Nanyuki and Isiolo before arriving at Samburu National Reserve. Enter the reserve through Archer's Gate and continue to Samburu Intrepids Luxury Tented Camp for check-in and lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on your first birdwatching game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Keep an eye out for African Fish Eagles, Pied Kingfishers, Grey-headed Kingfishers, bee-eaters, hornbills, herons, weavers, and numerous raptors while enjoying sightings of elephants, giraffes, and other wildlife.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, set out for a full day of birdwatching and wildlife viewing across Samburu's diverse habitats, including riverine forests, acacia woodlands, open savannah, and rocky escarpments.

Target bird species, Somali Ostrich, Vulturine Guineafowl, Golden-breasted Starling, Von der Decken's Hornbill, White-headed Mousebird, Northern White-crowned Shrike, African Hawk-Eagle, Martial Eagle, Secretary Bird, Yellow-necked Spurfowl & African Paradise Flycatcher

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a scenic location within the reserve before continuing your birding expedition.

In addition to birds, you may encounter the Samburu Special Five; Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk—as well as lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and buffaloes.

Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy an early morning birdwatching excursion around the camp or a final game drive before returning for breakfast. Check out at 09:30am and begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon.
