Day 1 Arrive in Lusaka and Overnight at a Lusaka Hotel Meet Your Guide and a Debrief Main Destination: Lusaka
Upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional fly-fishing guide, who will accompany you throughout your expedition. You will then be transferred to your selected hotel, where you'll spend the night on a **Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (DBB)** basis. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner and tour briefing, where your guide will outline the adventure ahead, discuss the fishing programme, equipment, safety, and answer any questions before your journey into the wild Kafue National Park begins.

Day 2 Air Transfer to Hippo Lodge Main Destination: Kafue National Park
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your scenic scheduled or private charter flight to Hippo Lodge Airstrip in the heart of Kafue National Park. The flight takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, offering spectacular aerial views of Zambia's vast wilderness, winding rivers, floodplains and abundant wildlife below.
On arrival the Airstrip, you will be met by the lodge team and transferred on a short game drive to the Lodge, where a warm welcome and refreshing drinks await. Checking in to your riverside chalet, enjoy a leisurely lunch before preparing your fishing gear for your first afternoon.
Accompanied by your professional fly-fishing guide, you will head out to explore the pristine waters of the Kafue River. This introductory session is an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the river, discuss techniques and target species. Return to the lodge at sunset for drinks, dinner and stories around the campfire as you prepare for the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 3 Explore the Upper Kafue Main Destination: Kafue National Park
An early start sees you heading onto the river as the African wilderness comes to life. The cool morning hours provide ideal conditions for fly fishing as you venture further upstream, exploring secluded channels, rocky runs and productive pools
Travelling by boat allows access to some of the Kafue's most pristine and rarely fished waters, while your professional guide shares local knowledge and techniques to maximise your success. The journey is as rewarding as the fishing itself, with excellent opportunities to observe the park's remarkable birdlife. Watch for African Fish Eagles, Giant Kingfishers, African Skimmers, Bee-eaters, Herons and a host of other riverine species that make the Kafue River a birdwatcher's paradise.
Return to Hippo Lodge in the late morning for a well-earned lunch and time to relax during the heat of the day. Afternoon at leisure, sundowners overlooking the river before gathering for dinner and sharing stories of the day's catches and wildlife encounters.

Day 4 Explore Down River Main Destination: Kafue National Park
Rise before dawn for another exciting morning on the Kafue River, this time exploring the productive waters downstream from Hippo Lodge. Combining fly fishing with a leisurely boat safari, you'll cast to promising pools and riverbanks while taking in the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife that thrive along the river.
As the morning unfolds, keep your camera ready for sightings of hippo, crocodile, elephant, buffalo and a rich variety of birdlife, making this an unforgettable blend of world-class fishing and classic African safari.
Return to Hippo Lodge in the late morning for a delicious lunch and time to relax before setting off on an afternoon game drive through Kafue National Park. Explore the diverse habitats surrounding the lodge in search of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, antelope and other iconic wildlife. As the sun sets over the African bush, pause for sundowners before returning to the lodge for dinner and another evening of sharing stories of the day.

Day 5 Final Fishing Day Main Destination: Kafue National Park
Final full day on the Kafue River is dedicated entirely to fly fishing, making the most of every opportunity to experience one of Africa's finest wilderness fisheries.
Early breakfast, set out to explore the productive waters upstream from Hippo Lodge. Guided by your professional host, fish secluded channels, rocky runs and deep pools in search of Yellowfish, Nembwe and other indigenous species while refining your techniques in pristine surroundings.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relax before heading out for your final afternoon session. This time venture downstream to discover new stretches of the river. Each offering different habitats, exciting fishing opportunities and spectacular scenery. Enjoy the thrill of pursuing wild fish in one of Africa's last untouched river systems. After breakfast, transfer to Hippo Lodge Airstrip for your scenic charter flight back to Lusaka. Upon arrival, your guide will assist with your onward arrangements before bidding you farewell, bringing your hosted fly-fishing adventure to a close.
