After the hunt, drive to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Crater, enjoying game viewing along the way. Serengeti, Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, is famous for its annual migration. Each year, millions of wildebeest, along with over 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles, travel across the plains in search of fresh grazing. Even when the migration is quiet, Serengeti offers some of the best game-viewing in Africa. The famous book Serengeti Shall Never Die highlights the park’s diverse ecosystem, from wildebeests and zebras to predators and dung beetles, all playing a role in the food chain. The Southern Serengeti, with its rich mineral salts, is the birthing ground for wildebeests, where babies are born from February to March. Dinner and overnight at Osupuko Tented Camp inside the park.
As the mornings are cool, many animals that are most active at night are still out and about. Cheetahs and lions will be hunting, along with rarer animals like the African wildcat, bat-eared fox, and honey badger. While Serengeti is home to a variety of wildlife, it has a particularly large population of gazelles, making it a prime hunting ground for cheetahs. There are also many species of birds in the area. The vast Serengeti plains, with their incredible scenery, will stretch out around you. The sight of the wildebeest migration, as far as the eye can see, is nothing short of spectacular. Dinner and overnight will be at Osupuko Tented Camp.
