7-Day Selous Game Reserve and Zanzibar Experience

Morning depart from Zanzibar for Selous Game Reserve you will have a short break for a hot lunch in kibiti. The journey to Selous will take about 5 to 6 hours. Arrive for afternoon boat safari along the mighty Great Rufiji River. Boat safari brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile and fantastic birdlife. Animals make their way to the river to drink and the boat may approach elephants, waterbucks and other on the river banks to within a few meters. Crocodile glide into the water as your boat approaches and the hippo appears in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

After breakfast in the morning enjoy a full day game drive by a modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. Great animals sightings including all the great favorites lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. You will also see a large variety of birds, wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far off mountains, in the afternoon packed lunch and some time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink, in the evening you will head back to the lodge for a delicious sunset dinner when you’re ready and then retire for the night.

Accompanied by an experienced guide and an armed ranger, walk out into Africa’s largest wilderness, learn about the complex eco-system that it embraces, encounter the thrills and be enthralled at the wonder of being at the heart of nature. Return to lodge for a splendid breakfast after breakfast we depart for Dar Es Salaam, your guide will drop you at the airport for fly to Zanzibar Airport. Upon your arrival at Zanzibar International Airport, our friendly driver will be there to greet you, holding a sign with your name. Your pick-up time will be tailored to your flight details, which you'll share upon booking. You will then be transferred to your beautiful beach hotel, where relaxation awaits.

Your program starts with a morning visit by walk on our Historical Stone Town Tour. This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace), and the Arab Fort amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals, and countless mosques!

Today you will visit Kizimkazi. Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience. We are doing this trip in the afternoon to avoid the crowds of tourists in the morning, which in big numbers disturbing the dolphins.

Morning at 7:30 picked up from your hotel to Fumba village where you will meet your special boat, it is about visiting three different sand banks and you will stop in one of those for Sea food lunch where by later you do snorkeling and having a chance of seeing a dolphin. It is a full day back at 17:30 Fumba village and arrives at the hotel around 18:30. then back to the hotel.

Depending on your flight schedule and departure point you will be transferred to the Zanzibar Airport to take a flight back home. If you are flying out of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we will arrange a connection flight for you to catch your flight back home.
