Day 1 Prison Island Giant Tortoises By Boat from Stone Town Main Destination: Zanzibar

After hotel pickup, travel to Stone Town and board a boat for the 15 to 20-minute ride to Prison Island (Changuu). Spend about two hours on the island with your guide. Visit the tortoise sanctuary, where Aldabra giant tortoises weighing up to 200 kg live, and help feed them under supervision. See the peacocks and the old buildings, and learn about the island's past and the medicinal plants that grow there. Return by boat to Forodhani and your hotel.
