Day By Day

Day 1 SGR Train from Dar Es Salaam and Afternoon in Mikumi Main Destination: Mikumi National Park

Start with an early transfer to the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) station in Dar es Salaam and take the electric train west to Morogoro, a journey of around two hours through farmland and small towns. Your driver-guide meets you at Morogoro station for the road transfer of about 90 minutes to Mikumi National Park. After lunch and check-in you set out on an afternoon game drive across the Mkata floodplain, looking for elephants, giraffes, zebras and buffalo. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

Day 2 Chizua Waterfalls Walk and SGR Train to Dar Es Salaam Main Destination: Morogoro

After breakfast, drive to the Uvidunda Mountains west of Mikumi for a guided walk to the Chizua Waterfalls, organised with the local cultural tourism group. The path passes village farms and forest before reaching the falls, where you can rest and take photos. The walk has some uphill sections, so good shoes are needed. Then drive back to Morogoro for the SGR train to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the evening.
