3-Day Nyerere Walking Safari and Game Drive from Dar

Your driver-guide collects you early from your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. The road runs south through coastal villages and farmland to Nyerere National Park, the largest national park in Tanzania and part of the former Selous Game Reserve. After check-in you set out on an afternoon game drive, looking for elephants, giraffes, buffalo and impala in the woodland, and hippos and crocodiles near the water. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

In the cool of the early morning you set out on a guided walking safari with an armed park ranger. On foot you learn to read animal tracks and dung, spot birds and insects and understand the plants of the bush. Walks follow park rules and are adjusted to fitness and conditions. After lunch at camp, head out on an afternoon game drive to look for elephants, buffalo, giraffes and hippos. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

After an early breakfast, and a short final game drive when time allows, leave Nyerere National Park and drive north back to Dar es Salaam. You reach the city in the afternoon, and your driver-guide drops you at your hotel or at the airport for your onward journey. We recommend booking onward flights for the evening or the next day, as road conditions on the park access road change with the seasons.
