3-Day Mikumi Day and Night Game Drive Safari

Your driver-guide picks you up in the morning from your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. The road runs west through Morogoro, at the foot of the Uluguru Mountains, and on to Mikumi National Park, about 280 km from the city. After check-in you head out on your first game drive across the Mkata floodplain, the open grassland that gives Mikumi the nickname Little Serengeti. Look for elephants, giraffes, zebras and buffalo. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives across Mikumi National Park, searching for lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and buffalo, with a break at camp in the midday heat. After dinner you go out again on a guided night game drive with a spotlight. At night the park changes, and you may see nocturnal animals such as bushbabies, genets, civets and hyenas, and lions on the move. Overnight at your camp.

Enjoy an early breakfast and, time permitting, a short final game drive while the animals are active. Then leave Mikumi and drive east through Morogoro back to Dar es Salaam. You arrive in the afternoon, and your driver-guide drops you at your hotel or at the airport for your onward journey. We recommend booking onward flights for the evening or the next day to allow for traffic on the road into the city.
