3-Day Nyerere Safari with Maasai Boma Visit from Dar

Your driver-guide collects you early from your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam. The road runs south through coastal villages and farmland to Nyerere National Park, the largest national park in Tanzania and part of the former Selous Game Reserve. After check-in you set out on an afternoon game drive, looking for elephants, giraffes, buffalo and impala in the woodland, and hippos and crocodiles near the water. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

After breakfast you head out on a game drive through Nyerere National Park, looking for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and, with luck, African wild dogs. Later you visit a Maasai boma, a traditional homestead near the park. Your hosts show you their homes, explain how they keep cattle and goats, and share customs, songs and daily routines. Please ask before taking photos of people. Dinner and overnight at your camp.

After an early breakfast, and a short final game drive when time allows, leave Nyerere National Park and drive north back to Dar es Salaam. You reach the city in the afternoon, and your driver-guide drops you at your hotel or at the airport for your onward journey. We recommend booking onward flights for the evening or the next day, as road conditions on the park access road change with the seasons.
