3-Day Nyerere National Park Shared Safari from Dar Es Salaam

Your driver-guide picks you up early in Dar es Salaam, and you join the other travelers in your group. The road runs south to Nyerere National Park, where you enter the park and set off on your first shared game drive in the afternoon. Watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras and impala in the woodland, and hippos and crocodiles in the lakes. Dinner and overnight at the rest house.

After breakfast your group heads out for a full day of wildlife viewing with a picnic lunch. The park combines open plains, miombo woodland and the lakes and channels of the Rufiji River. Your driver-guide searches for lions, buffalo, elephants and giraffes, and points out birds such as fish eagles and bee-eaters. Wild dogs are present in Nyerere, although sightings depend on luck. Return in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Start with an early morning game drive, when many animals are most active and the light is soft for photos. Return for breakfast, then leave the park and drive back north to Dar es Salaam. You arrive in the afternoon or evening, and your driver-guide drops you at your hotel or at the airport. We recommend booking onward flights for late evening or the next day to allow for road conditions.
