4-Day Private Safari to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere NP)

You will be picked up from Zanzibar to the ferry for you ferry to Dar es Salaam City and proceed to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park). It will take 4 hours. After arrival, you will have lunch and a short relaxation at the lodge. In the late afternoon, you will go on boat safaris along the mighty Rufiji River. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Selous River View Lodge

You will discover the Rufiji River by boat and encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. Some 350 species of bird have been recorded in Selous Game Reserve(Nyerere NP). These are typical of Miombo woodlands, and the bird life supported by Rufiji swamplands is of particular interest.

You will have a full day inNyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve) exploration of the reserve by 4-wheel drive vehicle dinner and overnight at Selous River View Lodge. Our Guide will sample best spots including Lakes like Mzizimia, Kalahari, Manze, Siwandu, Nzelekela and Beho beho where most elephants, lions and more other animals are always found.

You will have a picnic Lunch and proceed the game drive till evening.

The Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 53,600 square kilometres. The reserve gets its name from the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous. He was killed here during World War 1. Selous is famous for elephants, other species commonly seen are lions, wild dogs, buffalos, bushbucks, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras, and giraffes.

You will go on excursions with a 4*4 vehicle which will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of the vast park.

After an early breakfast, you'll have another day in Selous Nyerere Np. You will start with an early morning walking safari, followed by a game drive with your picnic lunch. You will have dinner and an overnight stay at Nyerere NP.

Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for the African wilds. It starts in the morning with the guidance of an armed ranger and takes 2 hours before you meet the driver at the reserve gate. Walking safaris offer a good chance of seeing giraffes, zebras, elephants and good birding.

After a breakfast at 06:30 am, you wil enjoy a cultural tour at a Maasai village, learning a life style of this Vibrant Tribe in Tanzania. Having their cultural dance and then start a ride back to Zanzibar through Dar es Salaam. You will catch the afternoon ferry to Zanzibar and then we will drive you to your hotel in Zanzibar.
