Day By Day
6 Day Itinerary
Day 1 Arusha to Central Serengeti: Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha at 8:00 AM. As we make our way to Central Serengeti (about a 6-hour drive), you’ll witness the vast, sweeping plains that give Serengeti its name, which means “endless plains” in the local Maasai language. During the afternoon game drive, keep an eye out for the “Big 5” – elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, lions, and leopards – as well as the graceful impalas and other plains wildlife. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the wild beauty, concluding the day with dinner and a relaxing night at your accommodation in the heart of the Serengeti.
Day 2 Central Serengeti to North Serengeti: Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you have the option of starting the day with an early morning game drive or departing after a leisurely meal. We’ll explore more of the wildlife-rich Seronera region before heading north towards the Kogatende area. As the landscape transforms into hilly terrain, you’ll encounter a variety of wildlife, from zebras to buffaloes. After arriving in North Serengeti, you might get a chance to visit the Mara River, where the dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration take place. Dinner and overnight will be at your accommodation in North Serengeti.
Day 3 Full Day in North Serengeti: Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
Today is dedicated to exploring North Serengeti. You can start with a relaxed breakfast or embark on an early morning game drive. Between July and October, this region is home to one of nature’s most awe-inspiring spectacles—the Great Migration. TheMara River, filled with crocodiles and strong currents, poses a significant challenge for the thousands of wildebeest and zebras that cross it. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness this life-and-death struggle firsthand. Enjoy your picnic lunch surrounded by the wilderness, and continue your game drives before retiring for the night.
Day 4 North Serengeti to Central Serengeti: Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you’ll either enjoy a game drive in North Serengeti before departing for Central Serengeti or start your journey early. On the way back, keep an eye out for more wildlife as the terrain shifts back to the open plains of Seronera. Central Serengeti is known for its lion pride, and you might witness interactions among these majestic animals. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, you’ll return to your camp for dinner and rest.
Day 5 Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater: Main Destination: Ngorongoro Crater
In the morning, enjoy a final game drive in Serengeti National Park before departing for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Known for its breathtaking beauty and rich wildlife, Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera. Upon arrival, you’ll settle into your accommodation in Karatu. After dinner, prepare for an exciting day ahead in the crater.
Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Main Destination: Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
The day starts with an early descent into Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll experience a 5-hour game drive. The crater floor is home to about 30,000 animals, including black rhinos, lions, hyenas, and hippos. With its unique landscape and abundant wildlife, the Ngorongoro Crater is a safari experience like no other. After a picnic lunch by the Hippo Pool, we’ll drive back to Arusha, where you’ll be dropped off at your preferred location by evening. Cherish the memories of this spectacular adventure as you say goodbye to your Nyangulo Africa team.
