Nechisar National Park, located in the southern part of Ethiopia, is a stunning wildlife haven in the Great Rift Valley. The park covers an area of about 514 square kilometers and lies between the towns of Arba Minch and Jinka. Its name, "Nechisar," comes from the Amharic word for "white grass," referring to the vast stretches of white grasslands found in the park. The park is characterized by diverse landscapes, including savannas, forests, lakes, and wetlands, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers, bird watchers, and wildlife enthusiasts.
The park’s most prominent feature is the Nechisar plain, which connects to the Gamo Highlands and is bordered by the two major lakes, Lake Chamo and Lake Abaya. The region also offers some of Ethiopia’s most spectacular views, such as the dramatic escarpment and the "Bridge of God"—a narrow strip of land that connects the lakes.
