Day 1 Arrival and Senkelle Swayne’s Hartebeest Sanctuary Main Destination: Senkele Swayne’s Hartebeest Sanctuary
Morning and afternoon travel from Addis Ababa to the Hawassa or Shashamene area which takes about four to five hours
Upon arrival check into your lodge or hotel near the sanctuary or in Shashamene. In the late afternoon begin exploring Senkelle Swayne’s Hartebeest Sanctuary where the open grasslands and acacia woodlands make wildlife viewing easy You will have the chance to see the endemic Swayne’s Hartebeest along with Bohor reedbuck warthogs and oribi while enjoying a peaceful natural setting

Day 2 Maze National Park Exploration Main Destination: Nechisar National Park
After breakfast drive to Maze National Park located about 235 kilometers southwest of Hawassa which takes approximately four to five hours
Spend the daytime exploring Maze National Park through game drives and guided nature walks The park is an important habitat for Swayne’s Hartebeest and is home to buffalo greater kudu bushbuck Anubis baboons vervet monkeys and many bird species You can also visit the Bilbo Hot Springs located within the park area adding a natural and cultural attraction to your day.

Day 3 Abijatta Shalla Lakes National Park and Departure Main Destination: Abijatta-Shalla National Park
In the morning drive to Abijatta Shalla Lakes National Park located about seventy kilometers from Shashamene
Spend the day exploring the contrasting landscapes of the two lakes with Lake Abijatta being shallow and alkaline attracting flamingos while Lake Shalla is deep volcanic and surrounded by scenic hot springs Look for wildlife such as Grant’s gazelle warthogs and various water birds while enjoying the stunning Rift Valley landscapes In the afternoon begin the return drive to Addis Ababa which takes about three to four hours for your departure or onward travel arrangements
