After breakfast, drive to the historic imperial city of Gondar. Explore the Royal Enclosure (UNESCO) with its medieval castles built by Emperor Fasilides and successors. Visit the Bath of Fasilides, Qusquam Church, and the beautifully adorned Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its angelic ceiling murals.
Depart for Debark, gateway to the Simien Mountains National Park (UNESCO)—“The Roof of Africa.” Register at the park office and trek to Sankaber Camp (3,200m). Along the route, enjoy panoramic escarpments, endemic flora, and sightings of Gelada baboons.
Trek from Sankaber to Geech Camp (3,600m), a 5–7 hour journey crossing the Jinbar River and passing the dramatic Jinbar Falls. In the afternoon, hike to Imet Gogo (3,926m), one of the region’s most stunning viewpoints offering sweeping views of jagged cliffs and high plateaus.
