Day by Day Activities
Day 1 - Addis Ababa – Awash National Park
Meet in Addis Ababa in the morning and set off on a 230 km drive northeast toward Awash National Park, located in the heart of the Ethiopian Great Rift Valley. Enjoy sweeping views of volcanic mountains, ancient lava fields, and dramatic valleys along the route.
Stop at Beseka Lake, a prime spot for birdwatching, where you may see pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagles, saddle-billed storks, and many other species. You’ll also witness the nomadic Kereyu people bringing their camels to the lakeside.
Continue to Awash National Park and take an optional evening game drive. Visit the spectacular Awash Falls and look for wildlife such as beisa oryx, baboons, greater and lesser kudu, warthogs, gazelles, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Day 2 - Awash National Park – Aledeghi Wildlife Reserve
Start the day with an early morning game drive in the Aledeghi Wildlife Reserve, a vast savanna home to diverse wildlife. Possible sightings include olive baboons, beisa oryx, Soemmering’s gazelle, gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, waterbuck, and various bustards—including kori and Arabian. Bird lovers will be rewarded with a wealth of indigenous birdlife.
Return to Doho Lodge & Hot Springs to relax for the afternoon. Enjoy the natural hot springs and the tranquil views of Doho Lake, which is fed by geothermal waters. For those interested, an optional cultural visit can be arranged to nearby Afar villages to experience their traditional way of life.

Day 3 - Awash – Addis Ababa
Enjoy a relaxed morning at the lodge before beginning your drive back to Addis Ababa. Travel via Debre Zeit, where you can stop at the area’s beautiful crater lakes for a scenic break and perhaps relax at a lakeside resort. Arrive in Addis Ababa in the late afternoon. Enjoy a farewell dinner before preparing for your departure.
