Mikumi National Park was established in 1964 covering an area of 1070sq km; it was later extended in 1975 to cover the current area of 3,230sq km. Mikumi National Park shares a common border and ecosystem with Nyerere National Park to the south. Day by Day Activities
Day 1 - Dar es Salaam to Mikumi NP for afternoon Game Drive
In the morning, your driver guide will pick you from hotel, ferry or airport in Dar es Salaam and drive to Mikumi National Park. You will stop on the way for hot lunch. After lunch, you proceed to Mikumi NP for afternoon game drives until sunset.
Common animals to see in Mikumi NP includes Elephant, Lion, Wild dog, Zebras, Hyena, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Eland, Hartebeest, Crocodile and other residents.
Day 2 - Full Day Game Drive in Mikumi NP
After breakfast, you will go out for a full day game drive in Mikumi National Park. Continue with game drive until lunch time where you will drive to the cottage for hot lunch. After lunch you will continue with game drive until sunset.
The common animals found in this park includes lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, elephant and many more. Wild dogs can be seen in packs here. There are open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.
Day 3 - Early morning game drive then drive to Dar es Salaam.
Wake up at 06:15am for early morning game drive until 0800am then you will drive back to the cottage for breakfast. After breakfast you will continue with game drive until 1100am then you will start driving back to Dar es Salaam. You will stop in Morogoro for hot lunch.
On arrival in Dar es Salaam your driver will drop you off at your hotel.
