6 Day Itinerary
Day 1 Addis Ababa to Awash National Park Main Destination: Arusha National Park
Depart from Addis Ababa in the morning and drive east toward Awash National Park, a journey of approximately 4–5 hours through scenic countryside and local villages. Upon arrival, begin your first safari experience with a visit to the impressive Awash Falls, where the Awash River drops into a deep gorge. Continue with wildlife viewing in the park, where you may see Beisa oryx, baboons, warthogs, and crocodiles along the riverbanks. Enjoy the warm climate and unique acacia woodland environment before relaxing at your lodge.
Day 2 Awash to Bale Mountains (Dinsho) Main Destination: Bale Mountains National Park
After breakfast, leave Awash and drive through the Great Rift Valley, passing lakes, farmlands, and small towns on your way to Bale Mountains National Park. The journey offers diverse scenery as you gradually move from lowland areas to the cooler highlands. Arrive at Dinsho, the headquarters of the park, in the afternoon and enjoy a guided walk through forest and grassland habitats. This area is known for its rich wildlife, including Mountain Nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck, and several bird species, making it an excellent introduction to the Bale Mountains.

Day 3 Sanetti Plateau & Tulu Dimtu Main Destination: Bale Mountains National Park
Start early and drive to the stunning Sanetti Plateau, one of the highest accessible plateaus in Africa. The landscape is wide and open, with dramatic views and unique alpine vegetation. Continue to Tulu Dimtu, rising to 4,377 meters above sea level. This area is the best place to see the rare Ethiopian wolf, often spotted hunting in the open grasslands. The scenery and wildlife make this day one of the most memorable highlights of the journey.

Day 4 Harenna Forest Exploration Main Destination: Bale Mountains National Park
Descend into the lush Harenna Forest, a striking contrast to the alpine plateau. This dense forest is filled with tall trees, waterfalls, and rich biodiversity.
